September see’s the culmination of an epic four year, 1,000 mile fundraising cycling journey that began in 2013 for Advance International.
Next week, 14 riders will set off on the final leg of an epic cycling series from Lyon to Monaco, bisecting through the French Alps and taking on some of the most famous cols in cycling.
Advance’s cycling chronicles began in 2013 with UK Coast to Coast, riding 120 miles from Workington to Tynemouth, raising money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In 2014, London to Paris followed covering 253 miles raising money this time for a small, but growing Alzheimer’s charity called Dolly’s Day. 2015, saw the team complete the Paris to Lyon leg covering a further 300 miles.
Advance has a long charitable history having raised an incredible £50,000 since 2005 alone. For our final event, Advance has chosen to support a grass roots local charity, Aquabox, who are based in Derbyshire. Aquabox provide emergency aid boxes to those affected by natural disasters, war or to provide aid to the poor.
The charity boxes provide two types of boxes: a family box that contain all that’s needed to buy a shelter and community box which provides a large water filter that is centrally located in schools, churches and halls. Advance’s goal is to raise at least £8,000 from the event for Aquabox.
The cycling starts on Tuesday 13th September in Lyon ends in Monaco on Friday 16th September. You can follow all the action on the Advance website, LinkedIn and Twitter profiles.
