Advance’s Adam Dixon completed the Great Manchester Run 2019 this weekend, fundraising for The Christie NHS Trust based in Withington, Manchester.
Joining tens of thousands who took part, the course runs through Manchester city centre, Stretford, east Manchester and revolves around both of the city’s football stadiums. Adam completed the full half marathon in 1 hour 53 minutes.
Adam chose to fundraise for The Christie, one of the largest cancer treatment centres of its type in Europe, following the cancer diagnosis and treatment of Toby, one of Adam’s cricket team members at Wilmslow Cricket Club.
Toby, who was diagnosed with stage 4 appendix cancer, underwent 12 round of chemotherapy, several operations and life saving ‘Hipec’ surgery at The Christie. With incredible support, from all the doctors and nurses, Toby has defied the odds and is now cancer free. To repay the credit, Adam decided to run and fundraise for The Christie.
Successfully completing the course Adam said: ‘Running 13 miles was tough but in reality this is nothing in comparison to what my mate Toby has gone through. So please give generously for such a good cause.’
