Established in 1887, Smythson is a high end leather goods and stationary company synonymous with heritage and luxury.

With a discerning clientele that includes European Royalty, Indian Maharaja’s and Hollywood screen stars, Smythson represents over 125 years of quintessentially British quality and versatility.

The brief

Working with ITAB Interiors, Advance was provided with a specific brief to supply a range of LED lighting to Smythson for their store interiors and furniture to illuminate the high end products in a number of stores.

Lighting was required for various furniture fixtures that included the following units:

• Double sided gondolas
• Wall bays
• ‘Book wall’ units
• Mid floor units

Development

Requiring a high end, premium look, Advance decided on a warm white density LED light in a diffused aluminium profile.

For the shelving lighting, LED light bars were provided including the extrusion. Various other flexible LED lighting was provided to rear illuminate the Smythson logo and the ‘book wall’ within the shops.

Summary

The project was rolled out to a number of store across the UK including Heathrow T2 and T5 and further afield in Paris at the Galleries Lafayette, an upmarket French department store.
